MANCHESTER, N.H. – The nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team added a home contest to its 2021 schedule this weekend on Saturday, Mar. 20 at 2 p.m. against American International College.

Saint Anselm and the Northeast-10 Conference announced earlier this week that no fans will be admitted other than students, staff, and faculty who are already on campus. A current, valid Saint Anselm ID card will be required upon entrance to the competition venue. Capacity at the venue site will be established based on social distancing protocols that strictly follow campus guidelines.

HAWKS NOTES
- Saint Anselm began its 2021 season with a 19-5 convincing win over cross-town rival Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday, led by senior captain Kelsey Czarnota (Wakefield, Mass.) and her career-high five goals. She also picked up a team-high five ground balls in the victory while earning three draw controls. After the performance on Wednesday, Czarnota finished the contest with 30 career points.
- Sophomore Lexi Palmisano (Woburn, Mass.), freshman Jess Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.), and senior Annie Richards (Reading, Mass.) each had four points in the victory over the Penmen. Palmisano and Sullivan both scored a hat-trick and also assisted in one goal. Richards led the team with three assists along with scoring one goal, increasing her rank on the program's career assists list as she moved up to 13th. After earning four points in Wednesday's match, she has now posted 68 points in her career, the highest for a current student-athlete.
- Since joining the Hawks back in spring of 2020, Palmisano has recorded one goal in every game that she has played at Saint Anselm.
- Including in the scoring mix, junior captain Jenna Balboni (Billerica, Mass.), freshman Alison Ferullo (North Andover, Mass.), and junior Sheila Gadbois (Southborough, Mass.) each netted two goals. Sophomore Meghan Cotraro (Beverly, Mass.) claimed her first goal of the season in the second half. Junior Caroline Healy (Niantic, Conn.) also assisted on her first goal, recording her first collegiate point in the process.
- Balboni heads into the weekend with an active seven-game point streak, dating back to Apr. 24, 2019 at Pace. In that span, she has scored two or more points in every game since. Balboni is not too far away from her teammate Richards in the career points mark with 63. Czarnota and Richards presently hold four-game points streaks.
- Junior goalkeeper Grace Young (Merrimack, N.H.) held the Penmen to five goals, stopping nine shots to earn the sixth win of her career and remain undefeated so far in the past two seasons.
- All freshman Hawks student-athletes played in their collegiate debuts on Wednesday.
- Saint Anselm's defensive unit played an instrumental role in the win over the Penmen along with the offense. Senior captain Caroline Guzzardi (Boxborough, Mass.) earned a team-high three caused turnovers with Balboni posting two for herself.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
- The Yellow Jackets enter the weekend with a 1-1 record, claiming a 16-9 victory over the College of Saint Rose on Wednesday after causing 21 turnovers in a defensive battle. In the Yellow Jackets' season opener, the University of New Haven earned a 17-7 victory.
- As a team in 2020, the Yellow Jackets finished the season with a 3-1 record, beating Saint Rose (18-6), Post (11-9), and Dominican (22-10).
- Liz Day and Molly Meavitt are both tied for the team lead with six points in the first two games of the season, scoring five goals and one assist. Devin Coulter, Kristia Iwanicki, and Anevay Rice have netted five points with Coulter leading the three student-athletes with four goals.
- In net, Chelsea Davis has recorded 17 saves and a 13.00 goals-against average so far in 2021. Davis made nine saves while allowing nine goals on Wednesday against Saint Rose. She also opened up the season with eight saves against New Haven.
- Against Saint Rose, the Yellow Jackets caused 21 turnovers which were the most in a single game for the team since Mar. 8, 2018.
- On Mar. 4, NE10 released its 2021 Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Poll with the Yellow Jackets ranked sixth in the Southwest Division. American International earned 32 points.
ALL-TIME vs. AMERICAN INT'L
- The Hawks have dominated the all-time series against the Yellow Jackets, 19-2. Saint Anselm is currently on a three-game winning streak over American International, claiming its last victory in 2019 with an 18-6 triumph. Breda Holland '20 had a six-point performance with a team-high five goals and an assist in that contest.
- From April 20, 2000 to Mar. 24, 2015, the Hawks racked up a 16-game winning streak over their rivals from Springfield - the successful stretch of play ended with an 11-10 loss to the Yellow Jackets on Mar. 18, 2016.
- Saint Anselm holds a perfect 9-0 record on home turf when facing the Yellow Jackets. The squad also captured its largest margin of victory in 2002 with a 17-2 triumph.
- Against the Yellow Jackets, the Hawks are averaging 16.62 goals a game in their 21 appearances.
