The Hawks return to action after 17 days without a contest. Saint Anselm was scheduled to play in the SUNY Canton Tournament on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28, but the weekend tournament was canceled. The Hawks last game came on Nov. 23 in a 4-0 loss to NCAA Division I Long Island University. Saint Anselm is 4-3-1 on the season with a 1-1-1 record in Northeast-10 Conference play. After heading to Gorham, Maine, the Hawks return to NE10 play at Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, Dec. 14, marking their final contest of the fall semester.
The Huskies fell to Norwich University in their last tilt by a 5-0 score on Dec. 3. Southern Maine was scheduled to play at New England College on Dec. 4 but that contest was postponed. The Huskies are now 2-6-1 on the season with a 2-4-1 record in New England Hockey Conference play. The team concludes its fall semester on Saturday, Dec. 11 at Anna Maria College.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- After opening the season unbeaten through five games (4-0-1), the Hawks have dropped each of their last three games with losses coming to Southern New Hampshire University, Anna Maria College, and LIU. The Hawks are now 4-3-1 on the season.
- The 2021-22 Hawks squad was unbeaten through five games marking the finest opening to the season since the 2007-08 team was 2-0-3 through five contests. Saint Anselm became the first team since the 2003-04 squad to win four of its first five tilts.
- 20 Saint Anselm student-athletes have recorded at least one point on the year. The Hawks have netted 23 goals and added 40 assists through eight games.
- Junior alternate captain Andrew Andary (Macomb, Mich.) leads the Saint Anselm offense with six goals and two assists for eight points. Andary is tied for fourth in the NE10 in goals scored. The junior lit the lamp four times through the first three games of the season.
- Sophomore Tommy Schwartz (Ridgefield, Conn.) is second on the squad with four goals as he scored a goal in four of the first five games to start the campaign.
- Senior co-captain Kilian Hammersmith (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and junior Matt Hayes (Salem, N.H.) are tied for the team lead with five assists each. Senior co-captain Trevor Hott (Idaho Falls, Idaho) is third on the squad with four helpers.
- Junior goaltender Nick Howard (Burlington, Mass.) ranks second in the NE10 in goals-against average (2.74) and third in total saves (223) and save percentage (.910). Howard has been named the conference Goaltender of the Week twice this season.
- Saint Anselm is averaging 2.9 goals per game which is good for third in the conference. The Hawks are have netted three power play goals in 31 opportunities, good for a 9.7% conversion rate. Saint Anselm is killing off penalties at a 75% (9-36) clip.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN MAINE
- The Huskies opened the season with three losses in four games before capturing a pair of wins over Skidmore College and Castleton University on Nov. 19 and Nov. 20. Since, the team has dropped its last three contests, falling to Salem State University, Stonehill College, and Norwich. The team is 2-6-1 on the season with a 2-4-1 record in New England Hockey Conference play.
- Austin Marini and Brendan Dowler are tied for the team lead in scoring with three goals each. Three Huskies are tied with two each.
- Marini leads the squad in assists with four, pushing his season total to seven. Bobby Kinsey III, Adam Withers, and Derek Tillotson have three helpers each to tie for second on the team.
- Antony D'Aloisio has started eight games for the Huskies. He has a 2.90 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage. D'Aloisio has compiled 237 saves on the season.
- Southern Maine is averaging 2.1 goals per game while allowing 4.3. With the extra skater, the Huskies have netted five goals on 27 opportunities, good for an 18.5% scoring rate. They have allowed 12 goals while shorthanded, killing penalties at 69.4%.
ALL-TIME vs. SOUTHERN MAINE
- This will be the 33rd meeting all-time between the Hawks and Huskies. Saint Anselm is 17-10-5 against Southern Maine.
- The last meeting came on Jan. 11, 2020, resulting in a 4-1 win for Saint Anselm. Hammersmith and junior Chris Lemay (Salem, N.H.) scored a pair of second period goals for the Hawks while Andary recorded an assist in the contest.
- Saint Anselm is 2-0-1 in the last three games against the Huskies and is 7-6-2 when playing in Gorham, Maine.
