MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's basketball team hits the road on Thursday, Dec. 30 for a 2 p.m. showdown with the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College.

The Hawks carry a 6-5 record with them to the Green Mountain State, having won three of their last four games. Saint Anselm most recently fell to nationally-ranked University of the Sciences on Sunday, Dec. 19 and the team's game against Goldey-Beacom, scheduled for the next day, was postponed.
Saint Michael's owns a 3-6 overall record and has lost two of its three games in Northeast-10 Conference play to begin the season. Last time out, the Purple Knights narrowly lost to Saint Rose on Saturday, Dec. 18, falling on a layup with 3.6 seconds left on the clock against the Golden Knights.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Senior Peyton Steinman (Pittsfield, Mass.) is leading Saint Anselm with 20.5 points per game, ranking second in the NE10 behind Pace's Lauren Schetter (22.5 ppg).
- Sophomore Gabby Turco (Wildwood, N.J.) netted a game-high 17 points and added five rebounds, two steals, and an assist against nationally-ranked USciences on Sunday, Dec. 19, earning NE10 Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.
- Turco currently leads all rookies in the NE10 and ranks seventh overall in scoring with 16.4 points per game. Through her first 11 collegiate games, Turco has scored at least 12 points in each contest and has 180 total points on 43 percent shooting from the field. She is also contributing 3.8 boards per game, 1.5 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per contest.
- Steinman and Turco are providing the bulk of the Hawks points on offense. Freshman Melanie Hoyt (Stamford, N.Y.) has contributed 5.6 points per game for Saint Anselm, ranking third on the team. Junior Liv Robles (Wallingford, Conn.) is fourth on the team with 5.1 points per tilt.
- Corey Boilard, in his fifth year at the helm of the Saint Anselm women's basketball team, picked up his 150th career win as a collegiate head coach against Franklin Pierce on Sunday, Dec. 12. With the Hawks, the New Hampshire native has won 66 out of his 100 games on the Hilltop (.660) after locking down 84 wins at NCAA Division III Johnson & Wales (R.I.).
- Saint Anselm commits the fewest amount of turnovers per game (13.6) in the NE10, on average.
PREVIEWING THE PURPLE KNIGHTS
- Saint Michael's has last four of its last five games in the month of December. The Purple Knights did pick up a quality victory on Saturday, Nov. 20, downing No. 13-ranked Stonehill by a 75-72 margin at home and went on to pick up an 84-46 win against Bryant & Stratton (N.Y.) on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
- The Purple Knights have three senior student-athletes with double-digit points per game totals. Nicole Anderson leads the way with 13.9 points per game and is followed by Emma MacDonough and Nicole Ladas, both totaling 11.7 points per contest. MacDonough and Ladas have averaged seven and 6.7 rebounds per game, respectively.
- Saint Michael's leads the NE10 with a 34.3% three-point field goal percentage, having made 61 out of its first 178 three-point attempts to date. The Purple Knights lead second-place Le Moyne by 2.1% on shots from beyond the arc.
- Anderson has made 24 three-point baskets to date, leading the NE10 as one of just four student-athletes to have at least 20. Her 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio of the sixth-best figure in the league.
ALL-TIME vs. SAINT MICHAEL'S
- Saint Anselm holds the edge in the all-time series, 54-24. The 54 victories by the Hawks are the most against any opponent in team history, just ahead of Assumption (52) and Southern New Hampshire/New Hampshire College (51).
- Last time out against Saint Michael's, Shannon Ryan '20 became the program's all-time scoring leader on Feb. 22, 2020. Ryan eclipsed the 1,652 points established by Rachel Jackson '85 and ultimately finished her career on the Hilltop with 1,767 points, an average of 19.9 per game.
- The Hawks have won each of the last seven games against the Purple Knights dating back to Feb. 11, 2017. Saint Anselm also enjoys a modest three-game winning streak over Saint Michael's in Vermont.
