SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Mackenzie McConnell (Concord Township, Maine) made 14 saves for Saint Anselm in a narrow 2-1 loss at Adelphi on Monday. Making 14 saves, she became the first Saint Anselm backstop to have as many stops since Nov. 4, 2014, a 4-2 loss to No. 4-ranked Stonehill – Katherine Sears '17 posted 14 saves in 70 minutes against the Skyhawks.
  • McConnell owns the lowest goals-against average in the NE10 (0.82), ranking in a tie for first by allowing just five goals to date. Freshman Sidney Falterer (Fairfield, Conn.) has allowed just seven goals, ranking third in the NE10 in that statistic.
  • The Hawks dropped just their second Northeast-10 Conference regular-season game since the start of the 2019 season with the result against the Panthers.
  • Despite scoring the first goal of the game just 5:21 into play, Adelphi overwhelmed Saint Anselm with 17 of the game's 23 shot attempts. Furthermore, the Panthers applied heavy pressure to the Hawks defense in the circle as Adelphi was awarded 11 of the game's 13 penalty corners.
  • Senior Carly LaCasse (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) scored for the second consecutive game, doing so against Adelphi on Monday. She now has 24 career goals at Saint Anselm and currently ranks seventh all-time in career point scoring (24-8=56), recently jumping from ninth place all the way to seventh in team annals, passing Meagan Halligan '16 and Mia Vecchione '18 on the all-time list.
  • LaCasse has scored seven game-winning goals in her career, ranking third all-time behind Allia Connolly '18 and Michelle Lemelin '20 who each scored 10 in their careers.
  • Junior Maeve Murphy (Scituate, Mass.) became the program's first two-time NE10 Player of the Week award winner on Sept. 27, scoring three goals last week including two of the game-winning variety. Murphy is now one of just seven student-athletes in team history to be selected for the league's highest weekly honors.
  • Murphy has three game-winning goals for the Hawks, tying for second in the NE10 this season.
