MANCHESTER, N.H. – Throughout the month of September, Saint Anselm College conducted its "Give a Mask, Get a Mask" initiative, raising money for a variety of student-centered causes while providing a custom-branded face mask for all students, faculty, staff and members of the monastic community.
With an initial goal of providing a mask to each of the 2,000-plus Saint Anselm students on campus, a total of 1,510 donors raised over $85,000 to benefit the "Hawks Soar Higher" Fund, the Anselmian Student Relief Fund, the Ernie Thorne '34 Scholarship Fund for Racial Equality and the Saint Anselm Fund. 100% of each donation will benefit the requested designation.
After eclipsing the 1,000 donor-mark with just a few days left in the campaign, the College unlocked a revised goal – the new challenge was to reach 1,500 total gifts and provide a face mask to faculty, staff and members of the monastic community. Surpassing that goal late Wednesday evening, 683 additional masks will be provided to all current College employees.
"The 'Give a Mask, Get a Mask' program was a tremendous success and exceeded our expectations," remarked Daron Montgomery, Director of Athletics at Saint Anselm. "We are grateful for our colleagues in College Advancement who helped us bolster participation from alumni and former student-athletes."
President Joseph A. Favazza and members of the College's senior leadership team began student mask distribution on Wednesday. Masks for donors are in the process of being shipped while those earmarked for faculty, staff and members of the monastic community will be distributed in the coming weeks.
