Holland, Almeida among nominees for NE10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Breda Holland '20 and Dave Almeida '20 were selected as nominees for the 2019-20 Northeast-10 Conference Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards.

There are 14 nominees for each award from each conference institution. Each nominee must be in their final year of athletic eligibility, enrolled in a full-time course load and own a final cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30. The two winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 27.

Holland, a member of the women's lacrosse team, entered the spring semester with a 3.536 grade-point average as a history and secondary education major. Almeida, competing on the men's ice hockey team, also impressed in the classroom with a similar 3.536 in finance and business. Holland has appeared on the Saint Anselm Dean's List six times while Almeida's resume includes seven Dean's List citations.

Holland, also Saint Anselm's nominee for NE10 Woman of the Year, has been a leader for the women's lacrosse team, serving as a two-time captain. She was selected as the College's Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in early May and joined 17 other Hawks in team history to reach 100 career points, doing so against Wingate on Mar. 5. Holland finished her career with 79 goals with 26 assists for 105 career points (79-26=105) through 55 games at Saint Anselm, totaling nine goals and an assist through four games during her senior year.

Almeida, the nominee for NE10 Man of the Year, was presented with the Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the most recent End-of-the-Year Athletic Awards while also being selected to NE10 Winter Academic All-Conference team. The Bristol, R.I. native wrapped up the 2019-20 season playing in all 28 games for the Hawks, tallying 11 points. Due to his performance this year, Almeida was named a Second Team All-NE10 honoree, the second such award of his career.
