KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Saint Anselm College baseball team pounded out 14 hits against Northern State University on Friday, picking up a 10-2 victory over the Wolves at Lake Myrtle Park.

The Hawks snap a six-game losing skid, moving to 5-6 on the year, while the Wolves remain in search of their first win of the 2020 campaign, dipping to 0-9. Saint Anselm wraps up its Florida trip with a 9:15 a.m. tilt against West Virginia Wesleyan at Chain of Lakes Park.
Junior Will Conaton (Windham, N.H.) pitched seven strong innings, striking out 11 batters and conceding just three hits. Senior Jared Ferris (Salisbury, Mass.) came on in relief, fanning three while yielding just a single hit. On the day, Saint Anselm pitching combined for 14 strikeouts with zero earned runs alongside four hits.
Sophomore Mike Pierro (North Andover, Mass.) went 3-for-4 on the day, driving in two, while senior Salvatore Pezzolla (East Greenbush, N.Y.) rapped four hits in five at-bats, driving in four. Junior Max Silverman (Westford, Mass.) had three runs driven in on two hits with freshman Mike Borrelli (Salisbury, Mass.) scoring twice and picking up two knocks on the day.
Saint Anselm pushed across the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning as Pezzolla pushed across Pierro, who led off the inning with a double to right field. After Northern State tied the game in the top of the third, Saint Anselm took the lead for good with a three spot in the home half of the third.
In that inning, Northern State committed two errors. The Hawks were ready to capitalize on the miscues, using a Pierro sacrifice fly and a Pezzolla single through the left side to increase the lead to 5-1.
Saint Anselm produced three more runs in the bottom of the fifth, using four hits in the stanza. Pezzolla manufactured yet another run-producing at-bat, scoring two with a single through the right side. Silverman later cracked an RBI single to left field, driving home Pierro, whose single earlier in the inning loaded the bases.
The Hawks matched a single Northern State run in the top of the sixth with a Pierro RBI single, scoring Borrelli, who led off with a single of his own. Saint Anselm concluded the scoring with a two-out, two RBI double by Silverman to give the Hawks double-digits in runs.
