MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College Department of Athletics announced Jon Lu and Claudette Perreault as the October 2020 "Hawks Soar Higher" Award selections on Friday.

Debuting in the Fall of 2017, the special award was created to allow the Department of Athletics to recognize individuals that are instrumental to the College's efforts to offer a first-class, transformational student-athlete experience. The awards are issued each month during the academic year to two individuals employed by the institution outside of athletics.

Recipients will be colleagues, faculty, staff or administrators who advocate for Saint Anselm student-athletes and go above and beyond in their contributions each day on the Hilltop.

Coming to the Hilltop in January 2019, Lu has many roles as the Director of Advancement Services, including managing the alumni and donor database. As the gatekeeper of this information, Lu works hand-in-hand with his colleagues in Advancement when it comes to overseeing this important data.

Lu's efforts have helped not only Athletics, but the College realize its many fundraising goals, all to the benefit of Saint Anselm students and student-athletes.

"Jon is a rock star when it comes to supporting the mission of the College," said Director of Athletics, Daron Montgomery. "Whenever we need certain information, or a specific report, we can count on Jon to act swiftly to support whatever project we are working on. He is all-in when it comes to supporting our student-athletes, and we are thankful for his support over the years."

"I'm a huge fan of New England sports teams, so having the opportunity to work closely with the Department of Athletics has been a pleasure," said Lu.

A long-time member of the Saint Anselm community, Perreault has worked at Health Services for 29 years and has "enjoyed every minute of it."

A key member of the Health Services staff, Perreault serves many roles, including but not limited to scheduling appointments, coordinating the day-to-day operations of the department, and acting as a liaison with on-campus departments, including Sports Medicine.

Furthermore, she has been a critical member of the College's COVID-19 testing process, handling numerous administrative tasks that ultimately support the health and well-being of students, faculty, staff and other members of our community.

"Claudette's behind-the-scenes service to our student-athletes is critical to our work in Sports Medicine," said Head Athletic Trainer Michael Sirois. "When it comes to booking time for our student-athletes with a counselor, nurse or another member of the Health Services staff, we can count on Claudette. She is a worthy recipient of the first Hawks Soar Higher award of the 2020-21 academic year."

Perreault is quick to thank her co-workers, past and present, for their efforts to go "beyond the call of duty," whether it is a medical or counseling situation.

"I have also been blessed with having two great directors, Constance B. Richards and Maura Marshall, that have always displayed their dedication to the students first, even more-so during these trying times," said Perreault.
