The Hawks put pressure on early in the opening frame, outshooting the visitors 24-5 but could not find the back of the net as the teams skated to a scoreless period. Senior Ryan Spillane (Franklin, Mass.) put the hosts on the scoreboard at the seven minute mark of the first. After Ferraro won the faceoff on the right circle, Spillane wristed a shot over the glove of Post netminder Brandon Brown to give Saint Anselm the 1-0 lead.
Iacullo extended the lead to 2-0 with 6:03 left in the period on a power play opportunity with assists from senior Liam O'Sullivan (North Hampton, N.H.) and Ferraro. Ferraro added one more before the end of the period just over three minutes later as the Hawks skated into the second intermission with a commanding 3-0 advantage.
An early third period goal by senior Sean Verrier (Reading, Mass.) off a face-off increased the Hawks lead to 4-0. Junior Shawn Moors (Pointe Claire, Quebec) made it a five-goal margin on a short-handed opportunity, firing a wrist shot from the right circle. Sophomore Kilian Hammersmith (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) extended his goal streak to three games, scoring the final tally of the contest with 6:04 left to play in regulation.
The Hawks had a 57-21 advantage in shots while killing off all five penalties. They also went 1-for-2 on the power play. Brown made 51 saves in net for Post.
The six-goal win was the largest goal margin since a 7-1 win back on Nov. 30, 2019 against Wesleyan (Conn.).
