Heading into the contest, both teams were tied on top of the Northeast-10 Conference standings. The Hawks record now stands at 11-7-2 on the season and 6-2-2 in NE10 play. The Greyhounds see their record move to 9-7-4 overall and 6-3-2 against conference opponents.

Trailing 1-0 at the start of the second period, the Hawks rallied to score three in the next 20 minutes, earning a 3-2 advantage. Leading in the third period, Assumption's Dante Maribito drew the game even only 5:21 in, setting up the game to go to a scoreless overtime period.

The Greyhounds struck first with a Robert Holyoke power-play goal at 4:24 of the opening frame. Saint Anselm answered with goals by sophomore Anthony Iacullo (Barrington, Ill.) and junior John Femia (Canton, Mass.) in the second period. Femia's goal gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead at the 12:33 mark.

Assumption evened the game at two as Collin Montgomery netted a goal 38 seconds later. After a Josef Mehall interference penalty at 14:39, senior Mike Ferraro (Northbridge, Mass.) converted on the power-play opportunity and put the Hawks back in the lead.

With another 20 minutes to play, both teams battled until Maribito netted the equalizer which would hold up the 3-3 final result.

In net, freshman Nick Howard (Burlington, Mass.) earned the second tie of his career, stopping 30 shots. Howard's counterpart, David Zulauf, made 38 saves en route to a 3-4-1 overall record to date.
