MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's basketball team eased past Adelphi University on Saturday by a 117-90 margin at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

The Hawks improve to 10-6 overall on the season, having won six of the squad's nine Northeast-10 Conference contests to date. Adelphi drops to 13-5 on the year and matches Saint Anselm with a 6-3 record against league foes.
Saint Anselm made 44 of its 65 field goals in the game, shooting a collective 67.7% from the floor, a mark that stands as the program record in the shot-clock era. The Hawks also reached 117 points for only the seventh time in team history, doing so for the first time since Nov. 26, 2000 in a win over Le Moyne.
The Hawks made 22 of its 30 shot attempts in the second half (73.3%). For the game, the Hawks were 29-for-39 from inside the arc and made 10 of their 15 treys in the first half alone. Paul, Evans and Tention each had 10 field goals and Evans and Tention posted five and six three-point baskets, respectively.
Senior Danny Evans (Leeds, United Kingdom) and sophomore Miles Tention (Palo Alto, Calif.) each recorded career-high scoring totals with the latter doing so in just the first half. Tention posted 29 points with a career-high nine rebounds and five assists while Evans posted 26 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
Junior Chris Paul (Highland Mills, N.Y.) logged 25 points with eight rebounds and freshman Tyler Arbuckle (Bristol, Conn.) scored 14 points with four assists. Junior Gustav Suhr-Jessen (Virum, Denmark) had 11 points and nine rebounds.
The team combined for 27 assists, falling one helper shy of matching a season-high figure. Paul also reached 500 career rebounds for Saint Anselm in the win.
A Tention trey with 11:26 to go in the opening half created the Hawks first 10-point advantage of the day, 28-18. However, Adelphi turned the game around with five consecutive three-point baskets to take a five point lead, 33-28, with 7:46 to go in the first half.
Tention responded with back-to-back triples, putting Saint Anselm ahead by one point, 34-33, with 6:57 left in the first half. On the way to a career-high scoring total in the first half alone, Tention scored 13 of his team's final 15 points heading into halftime – he was 9-for-11 from the floor with six triples while playing all 20 minutes of the first half.
The Hawks put the game out of reach in the second half, opening with 19 of the first 25 points to build a 76-48 lead with 14:41 left in regulation time. Saint Anselm led by as much as 34 points, 109-75, but the final five field goals for Adelphi in the last 3:10 were from beyond the arc.
Ronnie Silva, a native of Nashua, N.H., scored 30 points for Adelphi in only 33 minutes of game play. Spencer Foley contributed a team-leading 31 points as his team shot 47.9% from the floor, making 16 three-pointers, but the Panthers conceded 48 paint points and 23 points off turnovers.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday, Jan. 22, taking on regionally-ranked New Haven at 7:30 p.m. on the road.
