Farina scores, women's soccer falls 2-1 at Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A second-half goal by Caly Farina was not enough for the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team in a 2-1 loss to Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

Box Score

Le Moyne (3-3-1, 1-2-1 NE-10) jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and held off Saint Anselm (2-5-1, 0-4-1 NE-10) despite Farina's goal early in the second half. Farina's 50th-minute goal was her second of the season.

The Dolphins took a 1-0 lead midway through the opening half on Rachel Terry's seventh goal of the season, as she found the back of the net from the penalty spot following a cross into the box in the 23rd minute.

Eleven minutes later, Le Moyne doubled its advantage as Brielle Filtch got on the end of a Kirsten Colegrove cross and found the lower-left corner from the top of the box.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, the Hawks quickly responded just 4:21 into the second half with Farina's goal. The freshman fired the ball into the bottom-right corner on a rebound off a shot by Corey Murray. Farina had five shots in the game, including three on net.

Saint Anselm outshot Le Moyne 7-4 in the second half after being outshot 11-13 in the first half. Anastasija Cumika picked up the win for the Dolphins by making five saves, while Cassie Quattropani stopped four shots in the loss.

Saint Anselm wraps up the month with a trip to Saint Michael's on Wednesday, Sept. 28 for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
