WALTHAM, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College women's soccer team grabbed a 1-1 tie at Bentley University thanks to a late goal by Alexis Elowitch in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday afternoon at Bentley Soccer Field.

Trailing unbeaten Bentley (4-0-2, 1-0-2 NE-10) by a goal, Saint Anselm (2-4-1, 0-3-1 NE-10) tied the game with 2:32 remaining on Elowitch's first goal of the season, as she volleyed home a cross from Caly Farina. Neither team was able to find a winning goal in the overtime periods as they settled for a tie.
Bentley went ahead midway through the first half on Alyssa Valente's fourth goal of the season at the 22:12 mark. Valente was there to put in a rebound after a shot by Brandi McDonald hit the crossbar. The goal came after Corey Murray hit the post in the 11th minute for the Hawks.
Early in the second half, Saint Anselm nearly tied the game but the Bentley defense cleared a shot by Kendra Bonczar off the line following a corner kick. The Hawks outshot the Falcons 10-4 in the second half but were forced to wait until Elowitch's late goal to get even.
Saint Anselm totaled 19 shots in the game, while Bentley had 13. Shots in the overtime periods were 4-3 in favor of the Falcons.
Deirdre Macrorie made eight saves for Bentley in the tie. Elise Bouchard kept out four shots in the second half and overtime periods after Cassie Quattropani made one save in the first half.
Saint Anselm is off until Saturday, Sept. 24 when the Hawks travel to Le Moyne for a 3:30 p.m. game.
