MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team fell to #2 Le Moyne College, 18-3, on Saturday morning in Northeast-10 Conference action at Grappone Stadium in Manchester, N.H.

Ben Warren (Georgetown, Mass.), Matt Johnson (Watertown, Mass.), and Mark Vitello (Weymouth, Mass.) registered the goals for the Hawks, who dropped to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the NE-10. Lucas DeAngelo (Byfield, Mass.) made six saves in goal for Saint Anselm.

Jake Stokes (Beverly, Mass.) and Chris McCormack (Ipswich, Mass.) led the defense with four groundballs apiece, and five other players registered at least two groundballs. James O'Neill (East Walpole, Mass.) also saw time in the cage and stopped a pair of shots while playing the final 6:48.

Le Moyne (11-0, 7-0 NE-10) had 14 players register at least one point led by seven goals from Jack Vajda. Brian Rogers added five tallies, while Mike Jenkins had a four point day with a goal and three assists. Alex Krawec improved to 11-0 this season while making 19 saves and allowing only three goals.

The Dolphins held a 42-35 edge in shots in the game while scooping up 35 groundballs to 27 for the Hawks. Face-offs were fairly even as Le Moyne won 13-of-24 draws, with Saint Anselm committing only 13 turnovers to 17 for the visitors.

Le Moyne scored the only three goals of the first quarter as Jack Vajda, Nick Kline, and Brian Rogers all found the back of the net in the first 15 minutes of play. Rogers opened the second quarter with another tally before Mike Jenkins extended the lead to 5-0 with 12:18 remaining in the half.

The Hawks finally got on the board at the 11 minute mark as Mark Vitello weaved his way through the Le Moyne defense and fired a rocket that found the back of the net and made it a 5-1 game. Off the ensuing face-off, Saint Anselm took possession and worked the ball in front of the net. The ball eventually popped loose and Matt Johnson was there to grab the groundball and flick it into the back of the net to cut the deficit to only 5-2.

Vajda's second tally of the game made right before halftime made it a 6-2 game headed into the break.

The third quarter was controlled by Le Moyne as they outscored the Hawks 6-1 in the period. Warren scored what would prove to be the final goal of the game for Saint Anselm in the closing minute of the third quarter as he took a pass from behind off the stick of James Olsen (Westford, Vt.) and went low to make it a 12-3 game.

Le Moyne tacked on six more goals in the fourth quarter to give the game its final score of 18-3.

Saint Anselm returns to action on Tuesday night when they host Saint Michael's College in a Northeast-10 Conference showdown scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Grappone Stadium.
