MANCHESTER, N.H. – James Olsen registered three goals, including the game-winner, and two assists as the Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team outlasted Saint Michael's 10-9 in Northeast-10 action on Tuesday evening at Grappone Stadium.

With the game even at 8-8 after three periods, Ben Warren and Olsen scored goals 19 seconds apart early in the fourth to give Saint Anselm (6-3, 4-3 NE-10) a two-goal lead. The Hawks' defense held Saint Michael's (3-8, 1-7 NE-10) off the board in the final period until there was 1:00 remaining after the Purple Knights held the Hawks scoreless for the entire third period to tie the game.
After Tim Connor scored his third of the night with 1:00 to go to bring the Purple Knights within a goal, the visitors also got a chance on the man advantage. Saint Michael's won the ensuing draw but threw the ball away, allowing the Hawks to run out the clock to secure the win.
Olsen's three goals and two assists gave him a game-high five points, while Warren added three goals and one helper. Alex Pacitti notched a pair of goals with Mark Vitello and Patrick Sweeney finding the back of the net once.
Lucas DeAngelo made 14 saves on 23 shots to improve to 6-3 on the season. Chris McCormack grabbed a game-high six ground balls and was 12-for-21 on face-offs, while Oliver Ouellet picked up five ground balls.
Connor led Saint Michael's with three goals, while Daegan Goodman and Brian Loughlin each had two. Matt Hanley took the loss despite making 11 saves and grabbing four ground balls.
Saint Michael's got out to a 2-1 lead after the first 8:26 of play on goals by Brian Loughlin and Daegan Goodman on either side of Olsen's first goal of the night. Vitello and Pacitti accounted for the final two goals of the first quarter in the space of 1:10 to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead after one.
After Pacitti's goal with 4:18 remaining in the first, neither team managed to score for 11:40 until Sweeney broke the drought with 7:38 to go until the half. Olsen added another 2:02 later to put the Hawks up 5-2.
Saint Michael's responded with two goals 15 seconds apart to get within one. However, Saint Anselm scored three of the final four goals of the half, including a pair by Warren, in the final 2:50 to take an 8-5 lead at the break.
The Purple Knights scored all three goals in the third quarter as Connor sandwiched a pair of goals around a Daegan Goodman tally.
Saint Michael's held a 39-35 advantage in shots in the game, while Saint Anselm controlled the ground balls, 31-26. The Hawks won 12-of-22 face-offs, but committed 20 turnovers to 16 for Saint Michael's. Saint Anselm went 22-for-24 on clear attempts and held the Purple Knights special teams to 0-for-5 on the man advantage in the game.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Assumption College for a 1 p.m. matchup in Northeast-10 Conference action.
