WORCESTER, Mass. – Dylan Ryan scored a hat trick as the Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team got out to a 7-2 halftime lead and held on for a 10-7 road win over Assumption on Saturday afternoon at Multi-Sport Stadium.

Saint Anselm (7-3, 5-3 NE-10) scored the final six goals of the first half to take a five-goal lead at the break. Assumption (2-9, 2-6 NE-10) rallied to within three, 9-6, after three periods but the Hawks held on in the fourth for the win.
In addition to Ryan's second hat trick of the season, James Olsen and Mark Vitello each scored a pair of goals and Jake Stokes, Todd Billetter and Alex Pacitti all had one. Billetter added an assist to his goal.
Assumption took an early 2-1 lead after one period behind goals from Patrick O'Brien and Dan Farrell on either side of a Vitello goal. In the second period, the Hawks outscored the Greyhounds 4-0 on goals by Stokes, Ryan and two from Olsen. Olsen's second came with 21 seconds left in the half to send the Hawks to the break up by five.
Saint Anselm took its largest lead of the afternoon at 9-3 with 9:35 remaining in the third after a man-up goal by Vitello and Ryan's third of the game. However, Assumption scored the final three goals of the period in the final 6:48 to cut its deficit to 9-6.
Both teams found the back of the net just once in the fourth as Assumption's Travis Reid canceled out Billetter's goal. Farrell's three goals paced the Greyhounds, while Reid netted a pair.
Lucas DeAngelo made 13 saves on 20 shots to earn his seventh win of the season. John Demott and Colby Hamwey split time in net for Assumption and made five saves each.
The Greyhounds won 18-of-21 faceoffs and outshot the Hawks 36-33 on the afternoon. Saint Anselm held a slender 35-33 advantage in ground balls and committed just 16 turnovers compared to 24 for Assumption.
