MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team snapped a two game skid with a 3-2 victory over Saint Rose College on Friday night in Northeast-10 Conference volleyball action in Manchester, N.H.

The Hawks improve to 20-6 overall, tying the program record for wins in a season, while moving to 10-3 in conference play. Saint Anselm is back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host Le Moyne College (21-5, 11-2 NE-10) at 12 p.m. as part of their annual Senior Day.
Madison Sollows posted a team-high 15 kills and a .625 attack percentage while registering two aces and two digs to lead the Hawks. Amanda Williams and Katy Teets added 10 kills apiece, with Williams adding four total blocks and Teets posting 11 digs for Saint Anselm. Catherine McCarthy added seven kills and seven digs as well.
Defensively, CC Chrisom led the Hawks defense with 20 digs, while Jewel Hays added nine of her own to go with a match-high 43 assists. Danielle Isbell also posted nine digs in the win.
The Hawks cruised to matching 25-16 wins in the first two sets, jumping out to a 15-7 lead in the opening game and later taking a 24-15 lead in the second game to race out to a 2-0 lead in the match.
Saint Rose would not go away quietly as they used a 6-0 run in the third game to take a 21-16 lead following a block from Maddy Halverson and Stevie Schweitzer, forcing a Saint Anselm timeout. The Hawks used the stoppage to score three-quick points on a pair of Golden Knights errors and a Williams kill, but Saint Rose recorded three of the final four points of the set to make it a 2-1 match and force a fourth game.
Saint Rose had the momentum and took an early 6-3 lead following a Hawk error. Saint Anselm pulled to within one point at 12-11 following a Saint Rose error, but the Golden Knights scored eight-straight points en route to a 13-2 run to end the game as the match moved to a fifth and deciding game.
The two teams traded points in the early going until a Sollows kill put the Hawks on top 7-4. Another Golden Knights error made it 8-5 as the teams switched sides, and the Hawks later used two more Saint Rose miscues to jump out to a 12-7 lead and force a timeout.
The Golden Knights responded to the stoppage as they scored three-straight points to make it a 12-10 game. Teets answered with a kill, but two more points by Saint Rose cut the deficit to 13-12. After an attack error by Saint Rose, the Hawks were one point away from victory, but back-to-back kills from Maryellen Devic and Stevie Schweitzer knotted the game at 14-14 and forced a Saint Anselm timeout.
Sollows got the Hawks to within one point of a win with a kill before Devic's final attack of the night landed just outside the line, giving the Hawks the 16-14 win and a 3-2 victory in the match.
