HOLDERNESS, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team swept Plymouth State 9-0 for its fifth win in its last six matches on Friday afternoon at Holderness School Courts.

Saint Anselm (7-5) displayed its depth by sweeping Plymouth State (5-3) without its No. 1 singles player Jess Perkins. The Hawks won five of the six singles matches in straight sets and claimed each of the three doubles matches by at least four games.
Tess Malerbi and Meghan Golden picked up their fifth victory of the season with an 8-4 triumph at No. 1 doubles, while Lexi Stathis paired with Kaitlin Hughes for a win at No. 2 doubles by the same score. Caroline Templer and Bridget Keefe earned an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
The same six players provided singles points for Saint Anselm. Hughes ran her record to 8-4 by sweeping past Kelley Corson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Malerbi and Templer each dropped just one game in their matches at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
Meghan Golden moved up to the No. 2 spot and recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Megan Wallace and Stathis also lost only five games in a 6-4, 6-1 win over Megan Wheeler at No. 6 singles in her first singles match of the season.
In the lone match of the day to go the distance, Keefe outlasted Alex Dunn 6-1, 1-6, 10-6 at No. 5 singles.
Saint Anselm is back at it on Saturday, Oct. 8 with an 11 a.m. home match against Gordon before closing out its Northeast-10 Conference schedule.
