NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack scored a pair of goals in quick succession inside the final 15 minutes to defeat the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Martone-Mejail Field.

After a scoreless first 75 minutes, Merrimack (7-6-3, 4-5-3 NE-10) got goals from McKenna Moore and Victoria Carter 3:02 apart to claim the victory. Saint Anselm (5-10-1, 3-8-1 NE-10) peppered Erin Fulton with 11 shots on goal but the Warriors' goalkeeper stopped all 11 to record the shutout.
Moore broke the deadlock in the 76th minute after splitting a couple defenders and scoring from close range for her first of the season. Carter then gave the Warriors an insurance goal, her fifth of the year, in the 79th minute.
Prior to the two late goals, Cassie Quattropani held Merrimack at bay and she finished with a season-high nine saves. The Hawks held a 10-5 advantage in shots in the first half, but the Warriors outshot the visitors 15-6 after the break.
Offensively, Caly Farina, Kendra Bonczar and Corey Murray combined for 11 of Saint Anselm's 16 shots, including nine of the team's 11 on goal. Farina got four of her five shots on net, Bonczar had three shots on goal and Murray added two efforts on frame among three shots.
The game was a makeup from Friday evening when the teams played a scoreless first half before the field became unplayable due to heavy rain.
Saint Anselm wraps up the regular season with a pair of home games next week, beginning with a game against crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. at Melucci Field.
