SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College women's soccer team fell victim to a pair of second-half goals by American International College in a 2-0 loss in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday at MassMutual Field.

After a scoreless first half, American International (9-5-0, 8-3-0 NE-10) scored twice in the final 20 minutes to defeat Saint Anselm (6-7-1, 3-6-1 NE-10). Jessica Margaretta and Merissia Phipps were the goalscorers for the Yellow Jackets.
Margaretta broke the deadlock in the 71st minute with her first goal of the season by putting home a rebound with Johanna Nilsson earning an assist on the goal. Ten minutes later, AIC got an insurance goal from Phipps that was assisted by Frederica Frew.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Hawks 25-11 in the game with shots on goal being 8-5 in favor of AIC. Cassie Quattropani made six saves in the loss, while Madison Brown picked up the win with a five-save shutout.
Nicole Rust led the Saint Anselm offense with four shots and two shots on goal. Caly Farina had three shots, while Taylor Patterson, Kiley Larocque and Alexis Elowitch had efforts on goal.
The Hawks host Saint Rose on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 3:30 p.m. at Melucci Field.
