WALTHAM, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team saw its nine-match winning streak come to an end with a 19-25, 25-13, 17-25, 25-17, 15-13 setback at Bentley University in a matchup of unbeaten teams in the Northeast-10 Conference on Tuesday evening at the Dana Center.

Box Score

Saint Anselm (14-2, 5-1 NE-10) held a two-sets-to-one lead and led 17-15 in the fourth set before Bentley (6-11, 4-0 NE-10) rallied. The Falcons won the final 10 points of the fourth before edging the Hawks in the fifth in Saint Anselm's second-straight five-setter.

Katy Teets led Saint Anselm with 11 kills and also pitched in five aces, five digs and three block assists. Her 11 kills moved her into the program's top-10 in career kills, as she now sits ninth with 643.

Brennah Gladwill added 10 kills and four block assists. Madison Sollows nearly recorded a triple-double, finishing with nine kills, nine block assists and eight digs. Jewel Hays recorded 40 assists and eight digs, while CC Chrisom notched a career-high 29 digs.

Lauren Van Buren paced Bentley with a double-double of 16 kills and 15 digs. Rachel Bruno contributed 11 kills, Shannon Kelly had eight kills, 10 digs and four aces, Allie Rotkin finished with 42 assists and nine digs and Celia Cristofoli made 21 digs for the Falcons.

In the decisive fifth set, neither team led by more than two points until the Falcons won five consecutive points to turn a 10-9 deficit into a 14-10 lead. Down four match points, the Hawks saved three of them, two on kills by Sarah Lowery and Gladwill, before Bentley finished off the match with a kill by Caitlin Corcoran.

Bentley raced out to an 11-2 lead in the first set but Saint Anselm closed the gap to 14-9. The Falcons then won the next three points to establish a 17-9 advantage but the Hawks won 11-straight points behind Teets' serve to go ahead. Gladwill had back-to-back-to-back kills late in the set as Saint Anselm took it 25-19.

Like the first set, the Falcons started the second quickly by opening up a 10-2 lead. The Hawks cut to within 12-6 near the midpoint of the set but that was as close as they could get as Bentley evened the match at a set apiece. The Falcons hit .290 in the second set, their highest percentage of the match.

Saint Anselm rebounded by hitting .344 in the third on its way to a two-sets-to-one lead. After the teams were tied at 14-14, the Hawks won the next five points on the serve of Catherine McCarthy as part of an 11-3 close to the set.

The Hawks won the first three points of the fourth set but that was the largest lead either team would hold until Bentley's late run. With Saint Anselm ahead 17-15, Bentley won the last 10 points of the set, including five kills by Van Buren, to send the match the distance.

Bentley hit .181 on the night, while Saint Anselm hit .148. The Hawks held a decisive 12-6 advantage in blocks and hit 10 aces, led by Teets' five.

Saint Anselm takes a three-match break from the NE-10, beginning with a match at LIU Post on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
