MANCHESTER, N.H. – Five different players scored for Southern Connecticut State University to guide the Owls to a 5-0 victory over the Saint Anselm College men's soccer team on Homecoming Weekend on Saturday afternoon at Melucci Field.

Southern Connecticut (5-3-1, 3-2-1 NE_10) scored twice in the opening 15 minutes as part of a three-goal first half and went on to add a pair after the break. The Owls outshot Saint Anselm (2-6-0, 1-5-0 NE-10) by a 14-10 margin in the game but capitalized on their chances throughout the game.
Alex Brown got the Owls off to a quick start by scoring after just 2:10 after being set up by Alain Laurent. Devante Teixeira doubled Southern Connecticut's lead in the 14th minute with a 20-yard strike from the top of the box that skidded off the wet surface.
In the 39th minute, Louis Greenway Tambini made it 3-0 by finishing in front after Sean Black nodded down a corner kick. Ignacio Navarro and Jan-Malte Thesenvitz added second-half goals for Southern Connecticut 10 minutes apart.
Stephen McLeod made five saves in the loss for the Hawks, while Noah Varonier picked up the win by making two saves for the Owls. Zach Heckt came the closest to getting Saint Anselm on the board, drawing a diving save from Varonier in the ninth minute of play.
Saint Anselm heads to Franklin Pierce for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday, Oct. 7.
