MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Rachel Gillies (Auburn, Mass.) recorded a three-point day with a goal and an assist and a stout defensive effort held visiting Bentley University without a shot on-goal as the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team rolled to a 2-0 shutout victory Tuesday afternoon at Melucci Field.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Gillies' goal and assist Tuesday afternoon bring her season total up to six points (2 goals, 2 assists).
• Senior Kristen MacGray (Norton, Mass.) recorded her first assist of the season and third of her career Tuesday night.
• Freshman Alexis Elowitch (Portland, Maine) added a goal in the second half for the Hawks, upping her season count to six and recording her second in the past three games.
• Junior Cassie Quattropani (East Hartford, Conn.) posted a 90-minute shutout victory to improve to 2-3-1 on the year, yet recorded zero saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Anselm dominated the possession game for most of the game Tuesday, before Gillies finally found the back of the net at the 33-minute mark. MacGray played the ball from the left side to a streaking Gillies, who skimmed a low crack into the left corner from the right side of the box that beat Bentley goalkeeper Dierdre Macrorie.
• The Hawks made it 2-0 on a strong putaway by Elowitch, also on a deep attempt. Gillies played the ball from near midfield to a streaking Elowitch, who touched past a defender and rocketed a shot left post from straightaway.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Bentley earned five corner kicks, compared to four for Saint Anselm.
• The Falcons' Macrorie recorded three saves.
NOTES

• Bentley still owns a slim lead in the all-time series at 18-17-1.
• Tuesday marked the first time in her career that Gillies recorded a goal-and-assist combination in a single game.
