EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team finished off its two-day slate at the East Stroudsburg Invitational Saturday afternoon with a pair of sweeping victories, beating Molloy College (25-18, 26-24, 25-18) and Nyack College (25-21, 25-23, 25-14) at Koehler Fieldhouse.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior Brennah Gladwill (Citrus Heights, Calif.) tallied a team-high 11 kills on .409 hitting against Molloy.
• Senior Lauren Oxley (Bristow, Va.) chipped in a season-high 10 kills with just one error and added three blocks against the Lions.
• Freshman Sarah Lowery (Chicago, Ill.) notched an errorless nine kills against Molloy, adding three blocks of her own in the sweep.
• Sophomore Katy Teets (Dix Hills, N.Y.) led the team with 10 kills against the Warriors, adding to a nine-kill effort in the Hawks' opener against Molloy.
• Freshmen Jewel Hays (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) and Riley Grussing (Willmar, Minn.) shared setting duty for much of the day, recording 38 and 25 assists, respectively, across both Saturday matches.
• Junior CC Chrisom (Dover, N.H.) led the Hawks in both matches with 14 digs against Molloy and 12 more against Nyack.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In both matchups, the Hawks stormed to resounding opening set victories, eked out tight second set wins by the thinnest of margins and cruised to sweep-clinching third set routs.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• Saint Anselm outhit both opponents, including a Saturday-best .264 against Molloy.
• Saint Anselm recorded 8.5 blocks against Molloy, its second-highest block total this season.
• Ten different Hawks recorded a kill and ten others also recorded a dig against Nyack.
NOTES
• Host East Stroudsburg University won the five-team invitational with a perfect 4-0 match record over the weekend. Saint Anselm finished second with a 3-1 mark, followed by Molloy (2-2), Nyack (1-3) and Bowie State (0-4).
• Saint Anselm evens its season record to 4-4 overall.
• Saint Anselm retained its unbeaten streaks against both opponents Saturday as the Hawks improved to 3-0 against Molloy and 4-0 against Nyack.
UP NEXT
• Saint Anselm will return to New England for three straight single-match road games, beginning with a non-conference matchup at Bentley Tuesday evening. Bentley is the only remaining opponent in the current Northeast-10 Conference Saint Anselm has never beaten in program history—the Hawks are 0-27 all-time since the teams' first meeting in 1993.
