WASHINGTON, D.C. – For the second-straight game five players reached double-figures in scoring as Saint Anselm College defeated the University of the District of Columbia, 77-49, on Saturday afternoon at the UDC Sports Complex in Washington, D.C.

The Hawks have won three games in a row to improve to 3-1 overall. Saint Anselm takes on Chowan University on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to wrap up the weekend. Chowan fell to the University of Tampa in the other game on Saturday afternoon by the score of 63-41.

UDC scored the first six points of the game before the Hawks ended the opening quarter on a 14-0 run to take a 14-6 advantage at the end of one quarter of play. Ali Glennon (Bedford, N.H.) scored the first basket of the game for Saint Anselm with a triple and ended the period with another three.

The Hawks continued their run into the second quarter as Glennon connected on another three and Kaila Duarte (Dorchester, Mass.) added her second basket of the game to make it a 19-6 lead. Back-to-back jumpers from Raquel Johnson (Inglewood, Calif.) kept the Hawks on top 31-14 before Caitlyn Abela (North Easton, Mass.) hit a triple to push the Saint Anselm lead to 34-14. The two teams traded buckets down the stretch, and Saint Anselm took a 39-19 lead into the break.

The Firebirds made a small push to open the second half, cutting the Hawk lead to 43-27 after a three-point-play from Iman Scott. Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) and Glennon answered with baskets, sparking a 13-1 run capped off by an Emma Daly (Pearl River, N.Y.) three to put the Hawks back in command at 56-28.

Saint Anselm would build leads in excess of 30 in the final quarter as the Hawks cruised to the 77-49 victory.
