PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Kim Schubert (Norton, Mass.) tallied her first career goal and senior Callie Millet (Lancaster, Mass.) added an assist, but the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Northeast-10 Conference foe Pace University Saturday afternoon at Pace Stadium.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Schubert becomes the ninth player this season to score a goal for the Hawks, recording both her first season and career goal Saturday afternoon.
• Millet's assist was her third point of the season after scoring the game-winner just last weekend in a 2-1 win against Le Moyne.
• Junior Cassie Quattropani (East Hartford, Conn.) dropped to 4-4-1 overall in starts while recording two saves.
• Pace's Delaney Williams, Emma Sinanan and Sarah Bendl all scored goals for the Setters.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Pace got on the board in the 16th minute, as Williams collected a rebound putaway to take the early lead that would extend into halftime.
• Schubert then found space off a corner entry from Millet, rustling the netting in the upper left corner and tying it up at the 53:12 mark.
• Quick responses from opponents have bitten the Hawks before this season, and the Setters did just that as just over a minute later Sinanan broke the locked score off an assist from Drew Ribadeneyra.
• Pace then added a late insurance goal with just 30 seconds remaining to seal an important league win for the Setters.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Saint Anselm was held to just eight total shots on the afternoon, while Pace served up 11. Each team, however, sent five shots on goal.
• The Hawks earned four corner kicks, scoring on one of them. Pace picked up two corner entries.
NOTES
• Pace avenges a loss at Melucci Field last season by the same score, improving its all-time record to 17-10 against Saint Anselm.
• The Setters also snapped Saint Anselm's three-game win streak, dropping the Hawks to 4-3 in league play and 5-4-1 overall.
UP NEXT
• Saint Anselm will step out of Northeast-10 Conference play with a Monday afternoon matchup against Roberts Wesleyan University. For the second straight season, the Hawks and Redhawks will kick off at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School in suburban Albany, N.Y. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
