RINDGE, N.H. – A first-half goal by Franklin Pierce University would be the only tally of the game as the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team was shutout by the host Ravens, 1-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action Wednesday night at Sodexo Field in Rindge.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior Cassie Quattropani (East Hartford, Conn.) recorded seven saves—third most of the season—but dropped to 5-5-1 with Wednesday's loss.
• Junior Kendra Bonczar (Milford, N.H.), sophomore Alexis Elowitch (Portland, Maine) and freshman Lauren Case (Colorado Springs, Colo.) were the only Hawks to put a shot on-goal.
For the Ravens…
• Nalina Valaydon scored the Ravens' lone goal off an assist by Kaycee Pereira.
• Goalkeeper Casey Cook saved all three shots by Saint Anselm.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Valaydon scored the game-winning goal at the 33:18 mark of the first half, beating Quattropani from the center of the field after a Pereira drop from the left flank.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• Franklin Pierce outshot the Hawks 14-5 on the night.
• Saint Anselm earned two corners in the second half, holding FPU to just one.
NOTES
• Franklin Pierce improves to 28-2-2 all-time against Saint Anselm, and 14-1-1 in NE-10 league games.
• Wednesday marked the fourth straight matchup away from the Hilltop, with the Hawks posting a 2-2 record over the road swing.
• With five games remaining on the league slate, Saint Anselm sits firmly on the bubble in eighth place—a single point ahead of ninth-place University of New Haven.
