MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm men's hockey team dropped its 2014-15 season opener Friday night, falling 7-0 to ECAC East rival Babson College at Sullivan Arena.

The Beavers broke through the dam early in the first period as Babson's Mike Driscoll tagged the first two goals in the first 11 minutes of the game. Eleven different Beavers tallied a point in Friday's matchup as the Hawks were outshot 32-25 in on-target attempts.

Mark Meads (Middleton, Mass.) tallied six shots on goal to lead the Hawks' offensive effort, but Babson's goaltender picked up 25 saves in his second win of the year.

Sophomore Brad Rocheville (Saugus, Mass.) tallied eight save got his inaugural start in goal and tallied eight saves. Freshman Shane Joyce (Pembroke, Mass.) played the final 38 minutes in goal and made 17 saves.

Saint Anselm (0-1, 0-1 ECAC-East) will hope for a short-term memory with a quick turnaround this weekend, hosting UMass-Boston in a 4 p.m. matchup back at Sullivan Arena.
