EASTON, Mass. – Freshman Brennah Gladwill (Citrus Heights, Calif.) was credited with 13 kills, but the Saint Anselm College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Stonehill College on Tuesday evening with set scores of 16-25 17-25 and 19-25.
With the loss, Saint Anselm will fall to 4-7 overall and begins conference play at 0-1, while the Skyhawks jump to an 8-4 overall record, 2-1 in conference play.
The Hawks came closest to taking a game in the third set when they took the lead for the third time at 19-18, thanks for a kill from junior Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H.) and two from senior Kylie Kozlowski (Quincy, Mass.). Stonehill scored seven straight, however, to capture the match at 25-19.
Junior Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) dished out 27 assists on top of four kills and seven digs. Senior Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) also helped out defensively with six kills, while junior Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) led the team with 11.
The Hawks return to the court Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. when they travel across Manchester to play rival Southern New Hampshire.
