MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman Brennah Gladwill (Citrus Heights, Calif.), junior Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) and senior Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) fueled the offense with eight kills apiece, but the Saint Anselm College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday evening at the SNHU Fieldhouse.

With the loss, Saint Anselm declines to 4-8 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while Southern New Hampshire improves to a 7-5 record with a 2-0 mark in league play.

After the Penmen took the first set, 25-20, Saint Anselm battled back to take the second by the same score. The Hawks lost momentum, however, and finished the third and fourth sets by a score of 25-14.

Senior Vivian Fitzgerald (Winfield, Ill.) also aided in the effort with seven kills, while junior Holland McNabb (Huntington Beach, Calif.) chipped in six of her own.

Steinwart also helped in the area of assists and digs with 30 and 10, respectively. Two other Hawks racked up double digits in digs as Gustavson recorded 19 and junior Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) contributed 20.

Junior Jenny Doder (St. Louis, Mo.) and freshman CC Chrisom (Dover, N.H.) accumulated eight digs apiece.    

The Hawks return to the court Saturday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. when they play host to American International College.
