MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman Brennah Gladwill (Citrus Heights, Calif.) led the Hawk hitters with eight kills for .471 hitting as the Saint Anselm College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Dowling College in its opening match of the Saint Anselm Volley"Fall" tournament.
With the loss, Saint Anselm will drop to 4-4, while the Golden Lions will improve to 6-5.
In addition to Gladwill's eight, senior Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) added seven, while three other Hawks chipped in four apiece, including senior Vivian Fitzgerald (Winfield, Ill.), junior Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H.), and sophomore Lauren Oxley (Bristow, Va.).
In the setter spot, time was shared between Gladwill, who recorded eight assists and junior Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.), who dished out 13.
Defensively, junior Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) led Saint Anselm with 16 digs, while Gustavson and Steinwart accumulated eight and six, respectively.
The Hawks return to the court Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. when they play host to Lynn University. The Hawks will also play a 3:30 p.m. match with Bentley University.
