MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman Brennah Gladwill (Citrus Heights, Calif.) led Saint Anselm with a team-high 16 kills for a .325 hitting percentage, but the Hawks wound up on the wrong side of a four-set battle Saturday afternoon with the University of New Haven for Northeast-10 volleyball action.
With the loss, Saint Anselm dips to 7-18 overall and 2-10 in the NE-10, while New Haven remains unbeaten in the league at 12-0 with a 21-4 stance overall.
Set scores of the contest were 20-25, 25-27, 26-24 and 12-25.
Also assisting in the offensive effort was senior Vivian Fitzgerald (Winfield, Ill.), who chipped in eight kills, with no errors for a .471 hitting percentage. Junior Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H.) also added eight kills for .444 hitting. Freshman CC Chrisom (Dover, N.H.) helped the Hawks with a team-high 17 digs.
Senior Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) and freshman Catherine Morgan (Farmington Hills, Mich.) each contributed to both facets of the game as Gustavson added five kills and 15 digs and Morgan tallied six kills and 10 digs. Junior Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) reached double figures in assists and digs with 35 and 14, respectively.
The Hawks return to the court Sunday, Nov. 10 as they play host to Southern Connecticut State for a noon contest as Saint Anselm will honor its three-member class for Senior Day.
