BEVERLY, Mass.- Senior captain Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) locked down her fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 15 kills and 14 digs, but the Saint Anselm College volleyball team fell to Endicott College, 3-2, Thursday evening for non-conference volleyball action.

The two teams split the first four sets, Saint Anselm winning the first and the fourth, before the Gulls clinched the match with the fifth set victory. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 5-12, while Endicott improves to 15-12 on the season.

Set one went to the Hawks, 25-22 as the they came out firing offensively. Saint Anselm hit at a .281 clip in the first set compared to just .125 for Endicott. Endicott put up 11 kills to the Hawks' 12 as Saint Anselm made just three errors.

The second and third sets were both won by Endicott, 25-20, while the Hawks took the fourth by the same score behind a strong offensive surge to force the fifth set.

The Hawks held a steady lead in the fifth, letting the Gulls ahead just twice, before Endicott scored three straight to end the set 15-12 and capture the match.

Senior Vivian Fitzgerald (Winfield, Ill.) finished with eight kills for a team-best .368 hitting average.  Sophomore Lauren Oxley (Bristow, Va.) recorded nine kills for the Hawks.

Setter Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) also recorded a double-double performance as she registered 47 assists and 14 digs on the evening. Libero Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) tallied a career-high 31 digs.

The Hawks return to action Tuesday, Oct. 22 as they play host to Saint Michael's for a 7:30 contest on their home court.
