ALBANY, N.Y. – Freshman Cassie Quattropani (East Hartford, Conn.) and junior Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.) combined to make eight saves, but the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team fell to Northeast-10 power Saint Rose, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Field.
With the loss, Saint Anselm drops to 5-5-1 overall and 4-4-0 NE-10 for the 2013 season, while the Golden Knights remain unbeaten at 10-0-1 with a 7-0-1 mark in conference play.
Laura Taylor staked claim on a 1-0 lead for Saint Rose just 9:22 into the contest when she picked up a pass from Niki Smith and sent the ball into the lower left side of the net.
The Golden Knights doubled up their lead in the 38th minute as Sydney Bond finished off a through ball from Kristin Carr and put the ball past Quattropani.
Saint Rose held a 23-3 advantage in shots on goal, including 18-1 in the first half. The Golden Knights also grabbed a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Quattropani made five saves, while Primera was responsible for three in the second stanza.
In her 74:57 in net, Jessica Gerski did not see a shot, however, Ashley Homer made one save in the final 15:03 between the posts.
