Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Upends Mercy, 3-0

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. – First half goals from Amy Millet (Lancaster, Mass.) and Jenna Szostak (Carver, Mass.) helped the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Mercy College on Sunday afternoon at Pace Field, during day two of the Pace Tournament.

Both teams are now even on the season, standing at 1-1-0 for the 2012 campaign.

At 9:10 of the first half, Millet, a junior, scored her first goal of the season on a feed from Siobhan Flaherty (Braintree, Mass).

Twelve minutes later, sophomore midfielder, Szostak, netted a goal as she beat Mercy keeper Stephanie Casey, unassisted, to extend the Hawk lead to two.

After no action for 35 minutes, Saint Anselm broke through for the third time as Kaitlin Oldfield (Epping N.H) received a pass from Lindsay Johnson (Hooksett, N.H.) and fired the ball into the net past Casey.

The Hawks outshot Mercy by a margin of 12-1, where nine Saint Anselm shots came in the first half, and no shots were taken by Mercy in the second half.

The Hawks return to action Saturday, Sept. 8 in their home opener against New Haven in a 3 p.m. tilt on Melucci Field.
