MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team took down Stonehill College, 3-1, Tuesday evening in its NE-10 conference opener at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium with set scores of 16-25, 27-25, 27-25 and 25-19.

The Hawks now improve to 5-4 on the season and 1-0 in NE-10 play, while the Skyhawks move to an overall record of 6-4 and 1-1 in conference play.

Stonehill jumped right out of the gate taking the first set 25-16, but the Hawks battled back to take the next three with scores of 27-25, 27-25 and 25-19.

Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) led the Hawks with 13 kills and was also in double figures in digs with 10. Vivian Fitzgerald (Winfield, Ill.) and Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H.) each tallied 11 kils, while Shannon Douglas (Rochester, N.H.) added 10. Margaret Tereschuk (Mission Viejo, Calif.) also amassed 21 digs to her credit, with sophomore Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) chipping in 13.

Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) dished 48 assists over four sets, while adding an ace. Ouellet and Douglas each recorded three blocks, while Fitzgerald and Gustavson each notched two of their own.  

The Hawks return to action Tuesday, Sept. 25 as they travel to conference-foe the University of New Haven in a 7 p.m. tilt.
