Albany, N.Y. –Vivian Fitzgerald (Winfield, Ill.) notched 9 kills as the Saint Anselm College Volleyball team was downed by the College of Saint Rose in three sets Saturday afternoon at Nolan Gymnasium.
The Hawks now stand at 4-4 for the 2012 campaign as the Golden Knights improve to 6-3.
Set scores on the day were 25-12, 25-11 and 25-17. In the third set, the score was tied at five before Saint Rose went on a 4-12 run bringing the Golden Knight lead to eight at 17-9, too much of a deficit for the Hawks to close.
Fitzgerald posted nine kills and an ace with Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) adding five kills and two digs of her own. Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) put up 14 assists in the match's three sets.
For the Golden Knights, three different players had seven kills, while setters Ariana Wilson and Tori Daniels added 19 and 15 assists, respectively.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday, Sept. 18 as they play host to Stonehill College in a 7:30 p.m. conference match-up at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
