Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Downed by American International, 3-1

Springfield, Mass.Kaitlin Oldfield (Epping, N.H.) scored the lone goal for the Hawks as the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to American International College Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks drop to 1-3-1 on the season, 0-2-1 in NE-10 play, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 2-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.

American International was first to score at 19:35 when Romina Bell was dished a pass from Caroline Boyce and headed the ball into the right side of the net past Saint Anselm goalkeeper Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.).

The Hawks would then even things up at one when Oldfield single handedly netted a goal past American International goalkeeper Samantha Tabak in the 65th minute.

The Yellow Jackets answered at 75:40 when Bell took a penalty kick that Primera initially saved before Sarah Tomlinson netted the rebound making the score 2-1.

American International finished things off when Tomlinson scored her second goal of the contest in the 89th minute to seal the win.

Primera made nine saves to her credit while Tabak made two.

Saint Anselm was outshot by a margin of 24-5.    

The Hawks return to action Tuesday, Sept. 18 as they play host to UMass-Lowell in a 7 p.m. match-up under the lights at Grappone Stadium.
