Volleyball Comes Up Short; Loses to SNHU, 3-1

MANCHESTER, N.H.Shannon Douglas (Rochester, N.H.) posted double-digits in both kills and digs with 11 and 13, respectively, as the Saint Anselm College volleyball team fell to Southern New Hampshire University, 3-1, Tuesday evening.

The Hawks are now .500 on the season, 3-3, while the Penmen are now 3-4.

Saint Anselm started out with a bang, winning the first set 25-20, but then lost momentum and gave up the next three, 25-16, 25-17, and 25-22. 

Setter Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) posted 31 assists, while Holland McNabb (Huntington Beach, Calif.) added eight kills, five digs and three aces to her credit. Junior Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) also contributed four kills and 10 digs.

For the Penmen, Emma Houlihan led the way with 20 kills, while teammate Erica Solomon was also an offensive force, contributing 17 kills and 14 digs.

The Hawks return to action Thursday, Sept. 13 as they play host to Merrimack in a 7 p.m. tilt on the Hilltop for their home and conference opener.
