NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Katherine Morrissey (Sturbridge, Mass.) did not lose a single set all day as the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory against the University of New Haven on Sunday afternoon at the Yale Tennis Center.
The Hawks improve to 5-3 on the season and in Northeast-10 play, while the Chargers fall to 0-10, 0-10 NE-10.
Morrissey took care of Nan Sirihorachai in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and also earned an 8-0 win with her partner, junior Alexandra Lawrence (N. Scituate, R.I.), in No. 1 doubles action against Lindsey Conley and Brianna Kraynak.
Lawrence beat Conley, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 1 singles, while senior Amanda Brahm (Marlborough, Conn.) posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Kraynak in No. 2 singles action.
Freshman April Regan (Berlin, Conn.) was victorious against Martha Petzoldt in the No. 4 singles spot, 6-1, 6-3.
Junior Rachel Pedro (Weymouth, Mass.) defeated Christina Santos in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2, while freshman Kate Martin (Hudson, N.H.) recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win against Jessica MacPhee in No. 6 singles.
Brahm and Regan teamed up to blank Sirihorachai and Jonise Oliver, 8-0, in No. 2 doubles.
Martin and sophomore Christine Woods (Wilmington, Mass.) combined to defeat Santos and MacPhee, 8-6, in No. 3 doubles.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday, April 3 at 2:30 p.m. when they play host to Franklin Pierce University.
