MANCHESTER, N.H. – Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) led the Hawks with 13 kills and 12 digs as the Saint Anselm College volleyball team fell to the University of Massachusetts Lowell, 3-1, with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-21.
The Hawks drop to a 5-9 overall record, 1-3 in the Northeast-10 conference, while the River Hawks now stand even at 5-5 and 2-4 in league play.
Saint Anselm jumped out of the gate taking the first set 25-23, but then UMass Lowell came back to take the next three sets and the match.
Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) dished 41 assists and nine digs, while teammate Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H) added 11 kills with a .391 hitting percentage to her credit. Holland McNabb (Huntington Beach, Calif.) contributed four kills and five digs.
Margaret Tereschuk (Mission Viejo, Calif.) brought 10 digs to the table with Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) adding in 17.
Shannon Douglas (Rochester, N.H.) tallied ten kills and a pair of digs.
For the River Hawks, Ella Merrill paved the way with 11 kills and digs. Brooke Peterson added 10 kills and eight digs, while Olivia Perkins contributed 38 assists. Five different players notched double digits in kills. Anisa Smith tallied 13 kills with a .393 hitting percentage.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday, Oct. 9 as they play host to Southern New Hampshire University at 7:30 p.m. in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
