MANCHESTER, N.H. – Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.) made ten saves in net as the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team battled to a scoreless double-overtime result with Stonehill College Wednesday afternoon at Melucci Field.
The Hawks now stand at 4-7-5 and 3-6-5 in Northeast-10 play, while the Skyhawks move to 5-5-6 and 4-5-5 in league play.
Saint Anselm had a chance to score at 53:30 when the Hawks took a series of three shots on net, two of them being saved by Stonehill goalkeeper Amy Wheaton. Jenna Szostak (Carver, Mass.) took the initial shot that was saved by Wheaton, then gathered the rebound and took another that was blocked and squirted out to Kaitlin Oldfield (Epping, N.H.), on the left, who took the third shot that was saved.
Just over two minutes later, at 55:38, Oldfield, on the right, looped a shot from right to left that was saved by a diving Wheaton.
With 2:30 left in the second overtime frame Lindsay Johnson (Hooksett, N.H.) sent a shot rocketing just over the crossbar of the net with an open right side.
Primera made 10 saves, while Wheaton made seven.
Stonehill held an 18-17 advantage in shots, while Saint Anselm held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
