MANCHESTER, N.H. – Vivian Fitzgerald (Winfield, Ill.) led the Hawks with 12 kills and a .435 hitting percentage as the Saint Anselm College volleyball team took down Assumption College, 3-2, with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 15-25 and 15-6.

The Hawks improve to a 8-10 overall record and 4-4 in the Northeast-10 conference, while the Greyhounds drop to 10-15 and 4-6 in league play.

Saint Anselm jumped out of the gate taking the first two sets, before they let Assumption run away with the third and fourth. The Greyhounds forced the fifth set, which the Hawks took 15-6.

In the fourth set, the Hawks were neck-and-neck with Assumption at 5-5 until the Greyhounds went on a 7-0 run, commanding a 12-5 lead. Assumption went on another run, 7-3, to close out the set at 25-15.

Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) dished 37 assists and added eight digs and four kills, while freshman Lauren Oxley (Gainesville, Va.) assisted in the effort with 10 kills for .346 hitting. Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H) added nine kills to her credit. Holland McNabb (Huntington Beach, Calif.) contributed 17 digs and three kills.

Margaret Tereschuk (Mission Viejo, Calif.) matched her career-best 32 digs, with Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) adding in eight digs and four assists.  

Shannon Douglas (Rochester, N.H.) tallied nine kills and three digs.

For the Greyhounds, Lauren Ostafin posted double digits in kills and digs with 11 and 20, respectively. Tara Reilly posted 12 kills for a .478 hitting percentage.
