MANCHESTER, N.H. – Kaitlin Oldfield (Epping, N.H.) scored the solitary goal for the Hawks, the second game in a row, as the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team fought to a 1-1 double-overtime deadlock with Southern New Hampshire University, Tuesday evening at Larkin Field.
The Hawks now stand at 3-7-4 overall and 2-6-4 in the Northeast-10 conference, while the Penmen move to 9-3-3 overall and 7-3-3 in league play.
Saint Anselm jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 7:28 when Jenna Szostak (Carver, Mass.) sent a through ball down the left side to Oldfield, who beat a one-on-one with Southern New Hampshire goalkeeper Maggie Weldon down the middle.
The Penmen tied the game at one at 67:56 when Ashley Jaskula dished a long ball to Emily Mongeau, at the six-yard box, who headed the ball into the top-middle of the net over the hands of Saint Anselm goalkeeper Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.).
Primera made 12 saves, including four in overtime, while Weldon only made one stop.
The Penmen held a 28-4 advantage in shots, as well as a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
