GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Kaitlin Oldfield (Epping, N.H.) scored the lone goal for the Hawks as the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team fell to Adelphi University, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Motamed Field.
The Hawks now stand at 3-7-3 overall and 2-6-3 in the Northeast-10 conference, while the Panthers improve to 8-4-2 overall and 5-4-2 in league play.
The Panthers jumped on the board first at 4:44 when Amanda Reverberi gathered up a loose ball after it was blocked by a Saint Anselm defender and blasted it by Saint Anselm goalkeeper Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.).
Adelphi would increase its lead to two at 26:29 when Sarah Cote sent a ball to the left of the defense, where it found Emily Masiello, who sent the ball into the back of the net.
Just over three minutes later, at 29:20, Kim Schubert (Norton, Mass.) sent a feed to Oldfield, who headed the ball over the head of Adelphi goalkeeper Sam Whitney.
The final punch from the Panthers came at 62:45 when Taylor Groth headed in a corner kick from Donna Liotine on the far side to increase the Adelphi lead to two.
Primera made six saves, while Whitney made four.
Adelphi held a 17-8 advantage in shots, as well as a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.
