Hawks, Purple Knights Play To Double Overtime Draw

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Despite firing a season-high 13 shots on the opposing goalkeeper, the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team played the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College to a 0-0 double overtime tie Wednesday afternoon.  With their second tie of the season, the Hawks record stands at 1-5-2 overall and 1-4-2 within the Northeast-10 Conference.  The Purple Knights collect their first tie of the season, posting a 3-5-1 overall record in nine games alongside a 2-4-1 conference record.

Saint Anselm out-shot Saint Michael's 18 to 17 in the contest while also firing a season-high 13 shots on goal.  The Purple Knights only managed to place seven of their 18 shots on goal.  Teresa Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) led the Hawks with four shots, including two shots on net.  Emily Rooney (Quincy, Mass.), Siobhan Flaherty (Braintree, Mass.) and Kaitlin Oldfield (Epping, N.H.) each recorded two shots on goal apiece.

For the Purple Knights, Teal Bryan had three of the team's seven shots on goal.  Katie Murphy posted two shots on goal of her own, with Cassie Crockett and Carley Pestana placing two shots on net as well.

Goaltender Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.) posted her second shutout of the season, turning aside all seven shots on goal that she faced in the game.  Ashleigh Adams faced 13 shots on net, halting them all in 110 minutes of action.

The Hawks travel to Pace University this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 1 as they will face-off against the Setters in a 3:00 p.m. tilt.
