Women's Soccer Blanked By Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. - The Saint Anselm College women's soccer team fell to the Skyhawks of Stonehill College by a 1-0 final score Tuesday afternoon.  With the victory, Stonehill improves to 6-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in Northeast-10 Conference matches.  The loss drops the Hawks to 1-4-1 overall on the season and 1-3-1 within conference play.

Casey Mathews scored her second goal in as many games at 72:12 of the second half to lift Stonehill to their third one-goal victory in four games.  Mathews forced home a deflection off of a corner kick to give the Skyhawks the lead and the victory in the match.

Teresa Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) had the lone Hawks shot on goal in the match as the Stonehill defense limited all Saint Anselm players to a combined two shots total.

Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.) turned aside three-of-four shots on goal and collected the loss.  Sarah Hickey posted her third shutout of the season for Stonehill halting the lone shot on goal that she faced.

The Hawks return to action Saturday, Sept. 24 as they will face-off against the Chargers of the University of New Haven in a 1:00 p.m. tilt.
