EASTON, MASS. - The Saint Anselm College volleyball team fell to the Skyhawks of Stonehill College in four sets Tuesday evening at Merkert Gymnasium. The Skyhawks won three of the four sets (25-16, 25-15, 25-21) with the Hawks winning the second set 25-22. With the overall loss, the Hawks record falls to 1-6 on the season and 0-1 within Northeast-10 Conference play. Stonehill improves to 8-1 on the season while collecting their first conference win of the season.
Charlotte Tencza (Greenfield, Mass.) led the Hawks with 12 kills while also contributing 11 digs defensively. Lauren Ross (Dracut, Mass.) posted 11 kills in four sets alongside a team-best .476 hitting percentage. On the defensive side of the volleyball, Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) collected a team-high 17 digs on the evening. Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) led Saint Anselm with 35 assists in four sets.
Saint Anselm also featured strong performances by Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) and Holland McNabb (Huntington Beach, Calif.) who each posted seven kills apiece. Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H.) also contributed four kills off the bench in limited action.
For the Skyhawks, Sydney Maxey and Kirsten Arvidson tied for the team-lead with 14 kills on the evening. Emily Iverson led Stonehill with 35 assists in four sets with Maxey also contributing 19 digs defensively.
The Hawks return to action this Thursday, Sept. 15 as they will host the Greyhounds of Assumption College in a 7:00 p.m. tilt in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
