WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Tim Glynn (Suffield, Conn.) scored a pair of goals, but the Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team was defeated by Bentley University, 10-5, Tuesday afternoon at the Bentley Turf Field.
The Hawks fall to 0-7 on the season, including 0-4 in Northeast-10 play, while the Falcons even their record at 3-3, 3-1 NE-10.
Trailing 4-0, the Hawks jumped on the board with 5:55 remaining in the second quarter when freshman Jake Mallinson (Middletown, R.I.) netted an unassisted goal. The score was 6-1 with 10:24 to play in the third quarter when sophomore Daniel Sullivan (Rumford, R.I.) found the back of the net off a feed from classmate Kyle Murphy (Middletown, R.I.).
Saint Anselm trailed 8-2 at the beginning of the fourth quarter before freshman Griffin Sandler (Bow, N.H.) scored just 17 seconds in. Glynn followed that with a tally of his own off a pass from senior William Kussin (Concord, Mass.)
Bentley would score two straight, however, and grab a commanding 10-4 lead with 6:29 on the clock. The Hawks would get one back when Glynn scored his second of the game with 4:35 left, but that was as close as they would come.
Senior goalkeeper Dan Flynn (Wakefield, Mass.) made 11 saves, while Mike O'Neil stopped 12 shots for the Falcons.
Bentley outshot Saint Anselm, 40-34, and also held a 12-7 advantage in faceoffs. Both teams were a combined 1-for-10 on extra-man opportunities.
The Hawks return to action Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m. when they travel to take on Pace University.
