Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Falls to 10th-Ranked Adelphi, 14-6

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Ryan Henry (Norwood, Mass.) tallied four points, but the Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team fell to 10th-ranked Adelphi University, 14-6, at Southern New Hampshire University's Larkin Field on Saturday evening. Unplayable field conditions on the Hilltop forced the game to be moved.

The Hawks fall to 0-6 on the season, including 0-3 in Northeast-10 play, while the Panthers improve to 7-1, 3-0 NE-10.

Freshman Andrew Messner (Wakefield, R.I.) scored 2:37 into the game, but Adelphi scored seven unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead with 8:11 remaining in the third quarter. Junior Tyler Steinetz (Sparta, N.J.) and Henry netted back-to-back goals in the following 57 seconds to make it 7-3. Messner scored again with 3:55 to play in the third quarter, but Adelphi took a 10-4 lead into the final stanza.

Adelphi opened the fourth with two straight goals to make it 12-4. Steinetz buried his second of the game at the 6:29 mark, but two more from the Panthers made it 14-5. Henry scored with 3:05 remaining to close the scoring and bring the Hawks to within 14-6.

Senior Pat Acone (Bow, N.H.) made 11 saves, while Eric Janssen stopped 15 shots.

Adelphi outshot Saint Anselm, 50-41, including 16-8 in the third quarter, and also controlled 13 of the 24 face offs. The Panthers scored on two of their six extra-man opportunities, while the Hawks were 2-for-8.

Saint Anselm returns to action Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. when it takes on Bentley University.
